Intermodal transport is the transport of goods without unloading from the transport vehicle where the goods are loaded, without handling, using two or more modes of transport. Three different modes of transport are used: Maritime, Railway and Road.
Intermodal transport provides minimisation of environmental damage with less carbon emission, less fuel consumption and prevention of damages that may occur due to handling.
